Has anyone else dwelved into self-hosting their own XMPP and IRC servers? If not just XMPP and IRC what else do you like to host?

With the rise of censorship and authoritarian control in the West I felt pretty compelled to start learning and self-hosting as much as possible. I'm currently working on my own encrypted XMPP server for friends but my next project will probably be self hosting my own chan website on freenet. But given how much of a dead miserable experience freenet tends to be I don't have high hopes of it's success. But I'm optimistic now that Western governments are inflicting heavy regulations, ID verification and censorship on the clear web a lot of us tech literate neets may begin moving to spaces such as I2P and Freenet. Though Freenet has indeed long been reported to have nodes controlled by law enforcement agencies in attempts to deanonymize users. Yes TOR exists but it's just too slow and cumbersome.

hello, I have some small experience with selfhosting various services, if you want to know something you can ask me.
>what else do you like to host?
I used to selfhost the following:
>XMPP (setting it up working is actually childlishly simple and requires no more than 30 mins of effort if you have a working server with public IP already)
>IRC (I had my own server but it was pretty dead, I recommend setting up a client side that lets you store the message history and sorta make it an actual fully functional messenger)
>invidious, piped for youtube
>matrix
and really a shitton of other tools that I needed at some point, answering to your anonymizing network thought I think that smaller imageboards that are more likely to get raided are better off as either clearnet-only or tor-only. the clearnet website + onion/garlic mirror way only works with bigger and more strictly moderated imageboards like kohlchan.
>Yes TOR exists but it's just too slow and cumbersome
Its slow and it lacks volunteers that want to set up middle/exit nodes + there was that drama about feds setting up their own ones to deanonymize users but it Isnt completely dead like i2p/freenet since Its way more normie friendly and requires less effort to effectively use.
